
So many of us long for a deep quiet connection with ourselves and with others; the kind of contact that does not require effort. We hunger for simplicity, silence, ease and space. We may hunger for rest and the chance to receive the nourishment of life as it moves us. We may want these things and be surprised at how little ability we have to create this in our lives.
This weekend is dedicated to calming the heart, quieting the mind and settling our physical body through the medium of dance. We teach ourselves how to “turn down the volume” on the ways we may distract or busy ourselves. We explore the ways dance can generate peace within us and between us.
Given our brain’s stunning capacity for growth and change (neuroplasticity) we can trust that mindful movement practice will indeed set up new pathways for new traits that, with enough repetition and practice, can become habits in favor of our inner need for peace and quiet.
